Art with Jane Barnes
My passion for art and my love of sharing this passion with others, through mentoring, small classes, and workshops, come together in my bright and open working studio, looking out towards the awe-inspiring Helderberg mountain range.
My emphasis is always on nurturing and developing the inherent creativity in each student.
All artists are constantly making decisions when they work: from what medium and materials to use, the size and scale, what style to use, what and how to express their concept. And throughout the process of creating there are endless questions to be answered and still more choices to be made.
In my studio the emphasis is on learning the fundamentals of art, looking at examples of what other established and master artists have done and then from that foundation, exploring, and exploring some more. From these creative explorations, where there are no mistakes, students are empowered to make their choices and decisions on their artwork.
Every artwork is the unique product of the artist who created it, and it is an absolute joy to see the widely different ways in which each individual explores and expresses him or herself. Art is an exciting journey of discovery and exploration where there is always more to discover.
