Framed in a handcrafted French Oak frame.

This large painting is inspired by the splashes of purple and violet seen on my morning walks in the spring sunshine surrounded by a sense of anticipation at the seasons changing. The wide range of vibrant and soft purples and violets on my canvas are drawn from the delicate purple wild flowers scattered amongst the daisies in the field at the end of the road and the clusters of purply, pinky wisteria that I watched gently move in the spring breeze with the dappled light shifting and moving to the same tune. And finally from the poppies along my street that were the deepest, deepest purple imaginable. These incredible colours of spring and the beauty of nature beginning to bloom are at the heart of my painting that conveys my sense of wonder at the magnificence and softness of it all.

Part of a series created with a renewed appreciation for places that remind me of what is important, what is real, lasting and authentic. This painting is inspired by a morning spent walking through my friend’s rose garden with her on a hot summer’s day. The smells, sounds, colours and shimmering heat flooded my senses and left me with a sense of wellbeing and an appreciation for the beautiful abundance of nature and the blessing of friendship and connection. Sensory overload, the joy of the moment and the memory, the smells and sounds, the peace and the harmony are all explored in this painting through colour, brushstrokes, texture and mark making.
