“Grace” is my exploration, my response to the sensory experiences and my own thoughts, notions, prayers and wonderings on my daily walks. I am fascinated by the seasonal unveiling of the blue gum tree trunk as the bark peels away. The hidden stories in the negative spaces, scenes between the branches in the distance and colours and textures in front of me. The layers of life, of who we are and of our existence. Infinite realities defining, fading, connecting and interconnecting. Layers and colour playing out in life and on my canvas, gentle colours, rhythms of grace.

“The song of the sea” is inspired by my love of nature and my fascination with the many layers to our lives, who we are, how we respond to the world around us and the complexity and diversity of the world that we live in. In my painting my aim is to paint not only what I see, but rather to express the fullness of the experience. The power, energy and movement of the ocean, the rhythm of the tides, the storms and still seas, the pounding surf, the shrieking seagulls, the gentle breeze and the deafening wind, the summer haze and the drenching rain, and the endless layers of rich and diverse life below the surface of what I see. The magnificent beauty of nature and my sense of wonder at God’s creation are at the heart and soul of this extra-large painting.

This expansive diptych channels movement and gestural energy. Bold marks and layered colour create a rhythm that echoes outer environments while also revealing the pulsing, emotional terrain within. The works consider how perception and memory turn passing moments into held experiences—a landscape of possibility and resonance.

“Be still” is a large painting on Masonite board. It is part of a series of paintings inspired by places, people or moments of significance because of their unique and wonderful ability to spark a deeply felt response. I have always loved being on the coast, next to the ocean with the sound of the waves, the smell of the sea air, the fresh sea breeze, the richness of sea life below the surface and above and the ever-changing colours and moods of the water. All these sensations form part of my own visual exploration as I look for ways to express my sense of awe and wonder at the richness of creation. “Be still” is about taking a moment, pausing to reflect, taking note, and enjoying those things which we sometimes take for granted. There is so much beauty around us, if we choose to stop, look, and see.

Part of a series of paintings inspired by special places. Captivated by the stunning beauty of the west coast beginning to bloom. Many layers and colours are built up to create texture and movement, exploring and expressing the sensations of the vibrant yet delicate spring flowers, the fresh smell of the sea breeze, the sound of the birds and the constantly changing skies and light. An extravagant display of the abundance of nature and promise of spring.

“Where the wind blows”, is full of movement, texture and colour, made up of layers of paint, collage, charcoal and oil stick. This work explores my visual and sensory response to the sounds, colours, textures, smells and light that I have seen and experienced on my daily morning walks. Moments of peace and wonder. As much as it is my own response to the world around me, it is also an invitation to you the viewer to pause a moment, to see, to reflect and to respond to what you see in your own unique way.

"Fragments", takes a broad look at the richness and depths of our landscapes and the world around us. Exploring not only what is seen, but also the sensations and ever changing layers of life that are experienced when we allow ourselves to be immersed. "Fragments" reflects the contradictory sense of the permanence of what we see and yet at the same time the fragility of life as each piece takes its place and seeks to thrive whilst at the same time being hammered and shaped by the elements around. Once again my focus is to explore the contradictions in what we see and experience, the richness and depths at the heart of who we are.
